Several collections chart the evolution of the periodic table in the one hundred years following Dmitrii Mendeleev’s initial 1869 design.  The image archives has a significant collection of lantern slides and transparencies depicting alternative layouts for the table, including circular, cylindrical, pyramidial, spiral, and triangular forms ranging in date from the 1860s to the 1950s.
